Felix

Felix is a stray who chose his own family. ❤️

He and six other kittens were left in a closed box outside the ‘Lapa’ veterinary clinic. The vets nursed the little ones back to health, treated them and looked after them. Photos of the kittens were posted on Facebook, and it was Felix who received the most likes. You’d think he’d be the first to be adopted… But time passed, and no one ever came for Felix.

Six of the kittens found homes, whilst Felix remained in his cage at the clinic. And he… was meowing loudly. So loudly, in fact, that one day I heard him quite by chance. I’d gone to the clinic with my neighbour’s dog when I heard that cry. Felix was trying to get out of his cage, and as soon as I picked him up, he calmed down straight away.

The vet just smiled: ‘He’s yours.’ 😅

That’s how Felix ended up at my house.

His hungry and stressful childhood still makes itself felt. Felix really loves having food in his bowl at all times — I suppose it’s important for him to know he’ll never go hungry again. 🥹

And he’s also been incredibly lucky: he’s made friends with my two dogs. ❤️ Felix purrs, follows them around the house, and when I’m getting ready to take the dogs for a walk, he follows right behind us.

I reckon we’ll have to get him a lead after all. 😁

And that’s how we live — together, surrounded by love and care, and with a big bowl that’s always full of food. 🐾

To this day, our volunteer Lena looks after Felix, showering him with her love, care and warmth. ❤️
