About us
The ‘Old Friend’ Charitable Foundation is a team of caring people who rescue stray cats and dogs, restore them to health and help them find a loving home.
Our foundation runs two shelters, where we look after animals in need of help, treatment and care every day.
One of the shelters is home to 9 dogs and 9 cats, whilst the other houses 110 dogs and 42 cats.
In total, we are looking after 119 dogs and 51 cats. We provide our charges with food, veterinary care, treatment and daily care, and we also seek loving homes for them.
What we do
We rescue animals directly from the streets — those who are ill, abandoned or have suffered in critical situations. Our team then organises veterinary examinations, treatment and comprehensive rehabilitation:
from first aid to full recovery. Animals that need time to recover or socialise stay temporarily at our shelter or with our volunteers, where they are looked after and feel safe. We take a careful approach to finding new owners to ensure that every ‘adoption’ is a responsible one.
On our website, you can meet the residents of our shelter and find out more about their difficult life stories. Behind every such story is a living creature, and for us it is never just a ‘coincidence’....
Our mission
We do everything we can to rescue our stray friends from the streets and find them families. With the outbreak of the war, this problem has reached catastrophic proportions: animals have lost their homes and owners, left to fend for themselves on the streets, often without food, shelter or any chance of survival.
We used to manage with our own resources, but over time the number of animals in need of help has grown steadily.
Today we must be honest: it’s now very difficult for us to cope on our own. That is why we are turning to you for support – to those of you who care about this painful but very important issue.
Everyone who supports us has the right to know where the funds are going, so we regularly report on every penny and every bag of food donated.
How to help
There are various ways to get involved in our cause. A one-off donation, even a small one, can mean a first visit to the vet or a bowl of food for a pet. Monthly support gives us stability and the chance to plan our assistance in advance, rather than reacting on a case-by-case basis. If you have the time, become a volunteer: we need help with walks, transporting animals and liaising with prospective owners. And if you have space in your home, please consider fostering an animal, either temporarily or permanently.
We can’t promise to change everything overnight, but your help is a real step towards saving yet another of our little brothers...
